It's always been a source of fascination to me to watch human nature in action. It happens in so many interesting ways - especially on the internet, where all one has to get their points across is their words, and maybe, if the site provides them, some emoticons.
Time and time again, I've sat back in my chair and marveled at how some people will consistently talk themselves into what amounts to a dogfight with others, and then, they can't seem to realize that the reason people bash them is because of that tendency to talk themselves into a fight. I don't know whether these people are aware of what they're doing, or if they honestly don't realize that they are the ones bringing the trouble on themselves.
Earlier today, I happened to be surfing a few social sites. I came across one thread in which the person posting had deliberately challenged all the people who "hate" them to come forward into what was tantamount to a cyber boxing ring. I thought at first that what I was seeing was just a prank, but it quickly became clear that the person who extended the invitation was quite serious. And all I could think was, "If that isn't arrogance, I don't know what is."
Now, in all fairness, I could understand why the person had done that. I know the person fairly well, and I know there are a lot of people who feel extreme dislike for him/her. This person honestly has been bashed about quite a bit over the past few years - but instead of building a cyber boxing ring for the "haters" to duke it out with the person, wouldn't it have made more sense for that person to just walk away from the site and find some other, less hostile place to go? It's not as if there aren't any other social sites on the internet...
I don't know. It just seems like an awful waste of energy to me. I mean, what's the point? I don't mean to sound disrespectful or anything like that - not at all. I just don't understand why grown men or women do things like this. Isn't there enough hatred in the world already without deliberately creating a breeding ground for more? What's up with that?
Have a good night, everyone. Catch ya later.
