It's been a very long night. What happened
last night is something I won't forget. I can forgive it, but I won't forget it. It's one thing to be personally attacked; in my experience, personal attacks come from those who feel insecure with themselves. It's a whole different ball of wax when someone new to a field of study attacks the character and work of a more experienced team who has worked very hard to get where they are.
I've been pondering last night's events, and there are a few directions I could take.
(1) I could continue doing shows at that site and say nothing of what happened. Teri actually suggested this to me, but at the time, I knew I was too angry and upset to be able to keep my mouth shut for very long;
(2) I could go to the site and do a show about what happened, and express MY feelings on the matter (
and believe me, last night, the words "charitable" and "understanding" were NOT in my vocabulary);
(3) I could make videos, upload them to that site, and run them as shows, thus providing a live show without actually being live;
(4) I could simply find another way to do things so that I don't have to deal with the insecurities, control issues, and petty jealousies of the "holy threesome", to use the phrase provided by Lady Wolfen Mists, my dear friend, and a WPI team member.
It has long been my philosophy (
I adopted it from a loved one when I was just entering my teen years) that one should always have a backup plan just in case things happen that you don't expect, you can't control, and you can't change. Considering what's happening, the wisdom of this seems pretty obvious to me.
So, here is my decision. I will continue to make videos and upload them to our YouTube channel, and I will continue to embed those videos at our WPI blog. But, we will also be making how-to videos and embedding those, as well. And for longer videos which exceed YouTube's time limit of ten minutes, we will upload them to our livestream channel and then embed them into our blog. It's not the same as being live, I know, but it's a wonderful and quite effective alternative.
So, there you have it, folks. A backup plan that will benefit everyone, and which will allow the universe to take care of its business, too.
Sometimes, silence has a greater impact - in a positive way - than yelling...
Have a great weekend, everyone. Thanks to
Leah,
Shawn,
Dee,
MzTracy, and
Lady Wolfen Mists for the comments of support and understanding, and thanks to the people who responded to the email I sent out last night. All of you totally rock...
